Hello everyone, Recently arrived in Idaho after going wherever Uncle Sam wanted me to be. Just started getting back into backpacking, camping, fishing, and hunting after several years not being able to find the time. Really hoping to get my kids interest in the outdoors peeked, like mine was when I was their age. Stumbled upon this forum while looking into some backpacking trips in this area.

Welcome @RangerBear! Get those kids out as soon as you can. Too easy for kids to find "electronic" excuses for not getting out doors these days. I've been working on my grandson this year.

If you are new to the area I suggest spending some time out in the Owyhees. I grew up right on the border of Idaho and Oregon and spent a lot of time out there. It can be a very remote area, but a lot of interesting stuff out that way. Depending on the age of the kids taking them to the Succor Creek and Leslie Gulch area would fun. There are areas out there with petrified wood, fossils, and gypsum crystals. You could also head out to Swan Falls and take an easy stroll along the river looking for Petroglyphs. These places can all usually be visited in early spring. Then of course you have the Sawtooth Mountains for more alpine adventures, lots of good stuff on here for hikes and trips in that area.

I also grew up in Parma, quite the small world considering the population is what 2000.

OK, what's your name and what year did you graduate?
I graduated in 1994.

Shaun and I graduated in 96. I think you might have graduated with my cousin. Katie pearcy, I think she graduated in 94. I basically tried to flush my high school memories so I hardly remember anyone from back then. I'm sure the amount of alcohol I consumed in college had something to do with the memory loss. Anyways don't want to hijack the thread feel free to se d me a message.
