ACT NOW! The first steps to make the Grand Canyon Escalade Project a reality have been taken. Legislation has officially been submitted to the Navajo Nation and there is now a 5-day public comment period.

Send in your comments against the Grand Canyon tramway by this Friday, Sept 2nd at 5:00 PM! Digital comments may be e-mailed to comments@navajo-nsn.gov.

Thanks for posting this. It would certainly be a tragedy if this happened.

Is anybody who's emailed comments willing to share what they wrote? I'm trying to put something together but am getting a bit stuck...

The above hearing was moved to today, some interesting points to come from the meeting:

- No grazing permittees in the area affected by the proposal have given permission for the Escalade resort to be constructed.
- The entire Navajo Nation workforce costs $22m/yr to fund. It's an insane proposal to imagine that the NN can stump up $65m for this project.
- Most importantly, the Escalade project received zero votes of support from the Navajo Nation Law & Order Committee, all members are opposed to it.

The project still progresses but without the support of the committee. A good result.
