Thought some of y'all might enjoy a quick update. Escalante got a decent amount of snow yesterday (Friday) morning. This morning we poked down the Old Sheffield Road which was untracked, and made it maybe 1 or 1.5 miles until the first real hill, which had drifted in a bit, and I was totally unable to get up it in a 4runner, despite giving it a few tries. Maybe could have done if I put on the chains, but didn't bother (also I don't have a rear locker). Instead, we parked along highway 12 and went to the Weavers Caves; south-facing slickrock was mostly snow free but there are maybe 4 inches of snow elsewhere. It was a great day though.

On the way back to Escalante we poked down the HIRR a mile or so and were surprised to find it plowed. Anyone happen to know how far down they typically plow?

Oops I thought the snow was from Friday but was just talking to a local and seems it was mid-week.
