Earth and Fire: Anasazi Style Pottery

That was a treat! She even showed how she tempered the clay with sand. She is amazing. I wan't one. :D

We know an area in northern Arizona where there once was a big crossroads for several trade routes and have found many painted examples. There is an area with some of the earliest Basketmaker II pottery, (not decorated). You can see their paddle and anvil style with a sparkly substance they used to temper the clay before the sand temper, coil build, in the more ornate Anasazi, Mogollon, Sinagua, Gallup black on white and many other examples laying all over the ground so thick in places you can't help but step on some. Lots of lithic flakes among them too.
