Bag Night Challenge 2021

That’s pretty funny. Yes, that’s probably my rig. I’m actually in Moab housesitting for a friend who borrowed it to go camping for a week. She said she was going to Price to visit family. That’s pretty interesting that you happened to see it go by. At least I would guess it was mine considering she said she was going to be up there. If you see it again, mine has a big tiger decal in the back window.
Please tell your friend's family that we're all sorry about the Trump flag neighbor to the south. Although, he was the only one in the neighborhood who "got" my Aron Ralston Halloween costume like 10 years ago.

LOL Where's the knife? But I don't get what a Bogley t-shirt has to do with Trump.

Your costume reminded me of when boatman Martin Litton would take tourists down the Colorado posing as J.W. Powell with his arm tucked into his pants and newspapers stuffed halfway into his coat sleeve to imitate having only half an arm. I guess he would pontificate on the geology and such and the tourists loved it.

And my friend is now wondering how I know her neighbor has a Trump flag.

Total: 10 Nights

March 11-14 | Southern Nevada | 3 Nights
March 25-28 | Central Utah | 3 Nights
April 7-11 | Ruby-Horsethief and Westwater | 4 Nights

Just catching up my tally from a trip last month. Been pretty busy dealing with life, but my numbers should start trending the right way soon...

We had a scary experience in Skull Rapid on this trip as well. Our lead boat almost flipped and Collin and Jon swam the rapid. Jon was sucked to the bottom of the river for 27 seconds. He said he went so deep that everything got totally quiet and it felt like he was dragged through the underside of rocks. When he came up his face was bleeding through the pores and the front of his sunglasses had been smashed off, leaving the sides of them and the chums still on his head. Scary stuff. Here's two angles of the carnage, Collin's boat and mine (I'm the lime green one):

Holy crap that was wild. Nightmare fuel, getting sucked down and not being able to come back up. Glad they were ok!

Both were beautiful hikes, though!

Total 6 Nights

March 8-10 | Escalante Area | 2 Nights
May 4-6 | Bryce Canyon | 2 Nights
May 28-30 | Donnelly, ID | 2 Casita Nights

I have had the measly goal of at least 5 bag nights for the last several years and for one reason or another have just never reached it. I'm quite happy to say I have already reached it and I have plans to add at least 5 more nights. We were on a lot owned by my in-laws, mostly just cleaning up for the season. I was able to sneak off and do a little fishing.

Now up to 26 nights ..
A week+ in Arizona at Saguaro, Chricachua, Organ Pipe etc.
A second week+ in Death Valley and the Grand Canyon
Three days on the Central Coast in Cerro Alto:
Four days in Sequoia National Park.
Five days in Kings Canyon, hiking the trails out of Cedar Grove, including Hotel Creek, Bubbs Creek, Don Cecil trail...and some Sequoias up above near Grant Grove. Complete with a bear and cubs leaving the river below and climbing up to visit us on the trail!

Left Utah to escape the heat and ended up in the Redstone, CO area for a week. The last photo is the Avalanche Creek Campground. No bear sightings, but some foxes, and one camper had a big cat land on his trailer - the tracks indicated a small lion or large bobcat. He looked up to see it looking back down at him.

It was still hot, even up at 8,000+ feet. As I was leaving, lots of smoke from the Pack Ceek Fire near Moab. My phone photos aren't the best.

I took my Dad fishing for Father's Day. He stayed in the small building in the background and I tent camped. I was skunked on the fishing. My dad caught a couple.
