With that thick gray band, it sort of looks like some areas along the Scenic Drive in Capitol Reef.

I had a quick look in an album, think you are right @Udink . These photos were taken last fall somewhere along the “chimney Rock” loop, and it all looks similar to above photo:

The Castle was my first thought as well. I was thrown off though because the first photo looked like there was a dirt road right at the base of it.
