I was planning on doing the Subway in Zion from bottom-up this Friday. However, the weather is forecasting scattered storms in the morning and thunderstorms in the afternoon (60%). I've done this three times, so I'm decently familiar with the hike and its demands, but all of my previous experience was in clear weather.

Does the Subway have flash floods? It's considered a slot canyon but seems like a pretty large area with plenty of dirt and vegetation to soak up water. Does anybody have experience hiking the Subway in the rain?

Local canyoneering guide and guide book author, Tom Jones, rates it as moderate. Your call, but I personally don't mess with flash floods out here. If you decide to go, I would plan on leaving early and being out by noonish.
