West Side of the Tetons - video

Bob,

Thanks much for posting this.

Although I'm left of our new political center in this country I have truly mixed feelings about the Land Trusts and the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance. On the one hand I of course appreciate protecting natural resources and curbing development. On the other I can't help but see these organizations as defacto Real Estate Companies getting the wealthiest among us incredibly sweet deals at the expense of the working class that struggle to live here with such incredibly high purchase and rental costs. The biggest driver of development on the West side of the Tetons is unequivocally the immense lack of developable space on the East side of the Tetons in Wyoming. For years the Alliance's attitude has been that having to drive the pass everyday is fine for lower income folks working in the Jackson area, and IMO they've done diddleysquat to help with our unbelievably dire housing crisis. As crazy as it sounds to the plethora of the self absorbed around here I love tourists, they're a lot better looking than gas or oil wells. Both sides of the Tetons better do something SUBSTANTIAL to alleviate this crisis or our tourism industry will give way to other kinds of development few of us want here however NIMBY that sounds.

I'm headed over to hike the Wind and Ice Caves some time in June, and when I'm a little less fat I'll be back up on top of Table Mountain. Can't wait to get back to Bitch Creek Narrows. Thanks again for the post Bob,

John
