As some may know, I'm from the South East and mostly hike in the Smokies and sections of Florida. All the talk and photos of the Uintas has my interest really piqued though. Is water generally fairly readily available in the Uintas? Year round or only in certain seasons? I've always thought high arid landscapes were really pretty and I'd love to make it out there one day but I'm curious about the water supply. In the smokies there is water everywhere. From what I can see though it seems like water is readily available in most places?

Water is everywhere in the uintas. I've never once needed water and not been able to find it up there. Just be sure to treat is somehow.

x2. I walked the entire Highline trail for 80+ miles with a single bottle for water to treat and carry. There was enough water I could dip out a liter every hour or two. And that was mid-summer and on the mostly above tree-line ridge trail.

Awesome! Sounds great! Now I just have to figure out the prettiest parts... I'm following that thread closely.
