Anyone here familiar enough to know which of the river valleys, along the way to a trailhead, would be the best bet for hearing Elk bugle? Seeing them would be cool too.

Was hoping to get in one more mountain BP. But smoke is a buzz kill deal breaker.

Smoke rolled in here tonight, filling the air here in Washoe Valley. Not sure how much of the Sierra is affected, but surely the Crystal Range is smokey.

Try the Minam Lake/Minam River area. Can access via Two Pan trailhead. We saw lots of signs of elk there last summer on a hike in that area.
