So I'm am looking for some good hikes that I can do with my 4 year old in the uintas this summer. I would love to do some over nighter's. I would leave northern UT around 4:30 in the afternoon and would like to be to a spot before dark. I would also like to stay off the mountains on the wasatch front cause there are too many rattle snakes (just worried about my kid getting bit). So any suggestions would be great

When you say "over nighter's" are you talking about car camping or backpacking? Also, knowing where you live will help with the time constraints you mentioned.

I'm talking about backpacking and I live in syracuse

All of the backpacking with kids I've done in the Uintas has been in around the Trial Lake area and that puts you about 2 hours (and a few months) away. If you were hitting the trail at the Crystal Lake trail head by 6:30 you could make it to either Cliff Lake, Wall lake, Long Lake, Watson Lake, or even Clyde Lake before it got dark. You should also consider starting at the Bald Mtn. pass trail head and hiking down to Notch Lake.
