I've been keeping an eye on the updates at http://tert.org/. It looks like we only have a week or two before both trails are ready.
June 10, 2012. TERT have been stationed at Timpooneke and Aspen Grove trail heads. A number of hikers went up both trail heads. Most just went up to snow. Those who went high were prepared and had the right equipment. Report from those going up is that the snow can be hard to cross in some areas to get up to Emerald Lake. Ice axe, as a minimum, are still recommended. It might be best to wait a week or two to go up – or course, depending on weather. When the snow ices up on Primrose Cirque, it can be very dangerous to cross. Ice is starting to melt at Emerald Lake. Our team hasn’t been up to Emerald Lake yet and will be heading up in a couple of weeks once more hikers can head up high. The information I have is from those questioned at the trail heads.
