The insect ID thread

I don't know my insects very well and there are a few I'm really curious about. This weekend, one of those really curious looking bugs wandered through our campsite so I thought maybe some BCP'ers might know what it is. Anyone know? And if you have insects you want to ID, post them here!

My dad always called the Jerusalem cricket a Sand Puppy. And the above picture is a velvet ant. I came across a white one last August. The females are wingless but the males can fly. Also known as cow-killers not that they kill cows it is that there bite is very painful.
