Tenkara Fly Fishing

I stumbled upon an article about backpacking & fishing. The author talked about Tenkara fly fishing, I did some more
research and was intrigued.

My question is, is there anyone here who has done it? What are your experiences & opinions?

It is limited in it's utility though. If the fish aren't by the shore and aren't rising, forget about it. Tenkara is at home in smaller mountain streams and rivers, but when conditions are right, there is pretty much nothing more fun. My favorite Tenkara experience thus far was on this trip:

You just missed it. They had a Tenkara presentation at the fly tying expo here in Idaho Falls yesterday. the FREE fly tying expo that is.

Thanks for the info. I'm not much of a fisherman, but when I backpack in the Uintas I like to throw a line to complete the experience. Having read your account of only a small weight difference my interest is notably less. I will try one out and see if I can cast with very well. Thanks
