Not much of a trip report, but just wanted to post some pics from Ryder Lake--by far the most spectacular area I've laid eyes on in the Uintas. We were prepared for mobs--but found only one other group calling it home for the night. Definitely looking forward to exploring more of this impressive basin in the near future-- but perhaps accessing it from the Mirror Lake Highway side next time :eek:

Definitely. Dan Ransom did a trip last year(?) that started from Highline, over the pass into middle basin and then back out and into Naturalist Basin and out. Looked fun, lots of off trail. FWIW, I took a pic of the pass from Middle basin side when I was up there a few years back. looked super easy from that side... here's a pic:

yeah, it's great from the highline TH. there is one cliff band that you have to negotiate wich involves climbing - maybe 4th class? it's steep too, definitely a knee crusher. but it only takes 2 hours or less to get to mcpheters that way. i did when there was still snow, so it was a little sketchier. with no snow, it's just a scree slide.

One other thing, Tim. Make sure you have West Fork Black's Fork and Allsop Lake high on your list. Very similar terrain but in my opinion, more beautiful, especially in the case of West Fork Black's Fork (Dead Horse & EJOD Lakes).
