Hi Everyone!

My wife, daughter and I are planning a backpacking trip to Redwood Mountain Grove in July. From doing a ton of research, I have a few questions for those that have done this trail:

1. What are the odds of getting a permit? (According to their site, I have to apply by March 1 and it's first-come, first-server).
2. What's not clear is how many and where the official camp-sites are for backpacking. Or are there official camp-sites?
3. Is July a rainy month?

Thanks!
Dale

Try to get a reserved permit, but yo can also pick up a alk0up permit the day before, or the morning of your trip. For two people I think your chances are not bad if you arrive the day before.

There are not specified campsites in Sequoia (or much of anywhere else in the National Parks in California)

July is not a rainy month, In the Sierra you might get an afternoon shower, but it is nothing like other parts of the country, In the summer it doesn't rain much at all. Of course, YMMV, so check the local weather reports, but you should be fine.
