Red Castle vs Cirque of the Towers vs Titcomb

Maybe that's why I'm moving out of town .......

Anyone wants to see some crowded trails please come east, I have the hookup.

Ryan nailed it wit his description. July 2018 I had just set up camp in Alpine Lakes, the sun was setting, the wind had died out, I was so excited that I was all alone in this incredibly beautiful, wild place after a very hard day of hiking. Then a guy and his dog popped up out of nowhere. Even when you think you are alone you probably aren't. That said there are definitely places to go that are going to be empty, the major traffic is probably limited to three trailheads.

Alpine Lake Basin in particular is a lot busier than it used to be, as it's along both Alan Dixon and Andrew Skurka's published "high routes". If you were a basin or two over, I suspect you'd have a little more solitude.

Funny enough, I also saw a group with a dog in Alpine Lakes Basin. That's some roughhhh terrain for a dog. Seems like some carrying would be involved.

Going over Bloody Hell pass and thru shangrila is much more scenic and good fishing and virtually no one than Alpine basin....

Shangri La has an incredible population of marmots. Or had, at least.

Me too, but I want a partner for that one. I also want to get to the northeastern side of the range and spend some time at the base of the major glaciers.
Next fall.... I have a trip for that area

Shangri-La, the glaciers, or both?
Torrey to horse ridge to dry canyon to glacier panorama back to Torrey over blaurock pass... Could go thru shangrila to bloody hell pass Out to Elkhart via camp lake or over Alpine pass and back to Torrey....
