I have some friends coming into town that want to go camping in the Uintas. The plan would be to go up this Thursday around noon, camp, and then probably hike to the top of bald mnt first thing in the morning.

I would prefer to camp in a primative campground and away from people as much as possible so we can have some privacy. The big problem is that we'll be taking two mini vans. I made it to Whitney Reservoir last summer with Steve (thanks again for the invite!) in the mini van and it wasn't too bad but I don't think we want to go quite that far (we'll be coming from Sandy).

I'm a Uintas novice so I'd love your input. We will want to chop wood, have a nice camp fire, and don't mind driving on the dirt if it means we won't have a ton of neighbors.

Thanks guys!

Edit: We won't be fishing so water access is not a necessity by any means.

I don't car camp a lot up there, but what I've done has usually requires high clearance 4WD. You might have some luck by heading up toward Washington Lake then taking that dirt road that heads down and reconnects with 150, but I can't say for sure. I drove down it for a while once and it was 2WD friendly with some campsites.
