Well, I've beat this trip report down back in May when I was training for my Wildcat Ridge hike. There were some first for this hike though: My first time to the top of Olympus since turning 50, the first time I have hiked to the top in November, and most importantly, my daughter's first trip to the top! Yeah Katie!

While on top, we met a family whose grandfather had hiked to the top with them who was 79 years of age. He had to tell me that he was actually seventy nine and a half! I told him I was impressed with ability to make it to the top and hoped that I would be able to do the same when I am his age. He told me back when he was a teenager, he and his friends hiked along portions of Wildcat Ridge all the time. They were also big fans of Yellowstone and we chatted about different areas of the Park while eating lunch.

While eating our food, two young men showed up and deployed a drone to take pictures as it flew around the south summit. It sounded like a giant mosquito as it buzzed around. I eventually got tired of listening to it, so we finished our lunch and then we made our way back down.

A few shots from the top.

Looks like a DJI Phantom in the drone shot. Did you chat with the operators at all?

@ashergrey - Sorry, I didn't get a chance to chat with them. I had wandered over to the east side of the summit to take some pictures and when I got back my kids told me that they had a drone and were going to take pictures with it. By this time tough, they had headed off to the west side of the summit to fly the drone. The picture I took of them was on our way down. I did notice that the drone was white with four propellers.

My very first time was while I was still in high school, only my second summit after Grandeur Peak. We were going up the ledges above the mini saddle part way up the summit approach when we passed an 80 year old man coming down who had just left the summit, and I made a goal then as you did, this is what I want to be able to do when I reach that age.

Beautiful pictures @scatman Looks like you guys had a great time. Super impressed with the 79 year old. That's inspiring.
