Mt Moriah in the northern Snake Range hasn't been mentioned much on this site. In late August my friend Derek and I left SLC before lunch and starting hiking up Hendry's Creek on the east side of Moriah around 4pm. There is not good camping at this trailhead. We got ~5.5 miles up the trail before it seemed like time to stop. This canyon has a permanent stream. Next day we explored The Table for a while, it's a great 11,000' plateau with lots of gnarled bristlecone pines, I can't get enough of those. Then up and over Moriah and rather than retracing our steps, 2,500' vertical of off-trail hiking directly down to Hendry's Creek, where we spent another night and then out in the morning. Maybe 21 total hiking miles. We had the whole place to ourselves. Some pics here: http://john.regehr.org/moriah-2016/

I've wanted to do Moriah since the Kelsey book came out, deep in the mists of time.
