Quite possibly my favorite trail in Zion (I think I say this about most of my most recent hikes) is the hike to the Double Arch Alcove off of Taylor Creek. The trail itself is less than spectacular but the end destinations is one of the most spectacular places I have seen. Such a serene place! And usually you can have it for yourself (not for a long time but at least a couple minutes)

(there are numerous stream crossings)

(after about a mile it starts to get interesting!)

(Two historic Cabins on this hike)

The trail is just over 5 miles, according to my phone closer to 6, and on average takes (according to the sign at the top) 4 hours. Today I ran the bad boy in just over an hour with a 5-10 minute break at the end. I passed a handful of people but no more than 10.

(I have never seen a picture that does this place any justice)

After hiking I quickly drove to the top scenic drive and ran to the end of the Timber Creek Overlook, a trail I have never done, it was a pretty good overlook if I must say so!

^ I take it back! I dont know if anything in Southern Utah in the fall can even compare to your old stompin grounds in Upstate NY!

I'm more than anxious to see a Southern Utah fall. I really want to see all the Aspens and Cottonwoods turn yellow. This must be a sight.
Fall will definitely be a good idea to explore some of the Kolob Canyons, just added it to my bucket list :)

Great pics Matt! I have to disagree with you about the hike in though. I thought it was beautiful start to finish. It's definitely in my top 3 Zion hikes.

It's especially nice if your a photographer. Great little shots of the various waterfalls (all small), the canyon frogs in the falls, the old log cabins, the windflowers along the way ( what are the tiny white flowers climbing the walls of the alcove? Columbies?).

Is this in the Kolob Canyon area? I was looking at doing something similar on a map when I'm out there this fall and wondering if this is the same hike?
