Check it out, the latest GSENM road report lists it as 2wd high clearance, sounds like now's the time to drive this sucker:

Whoa. I drove that years back and it was a pretty wild ride in my Tacoma. Hard to imagine it ever being 2WD friendly.

The fist time I ever drove this road I had inquired at the visitor center in Escalante about the condition and they told me it was impassible. Based on previous reports from rangers, I went anyway and found it in excellent shape and good enough for a 2wd vehicle to drive.

I've heard mostly scary things about this road so was surprised to read this. If I can get down there before it washes out, I'll give it a try in the 4runner.
