Lake Blance.jpg I can't believe I grew up in Utah and didn't get to lake blanche until just a few years ago. This is an amazing hike. the scenery all the way up is typical cottonwood canyon beautiful then you get to the top and Lake Blanche, sundial peak, all the granite and waterfalls and lush greenery...It is definitly one of my favorite day hikes. Only drawback is how crowded it gets most summer afternoons. We went the whole family the first time and all five of us still count it as one of the best afternoons we have enjoyed for a family outing. It was so much fun at the lake that we stayed too long and had to hike the last couple of miles out in the dark. The sunset down the canyon was a beautiful distraction and then we had headlamps cause we tend to do this alot and we've learned from our mistakes.

Nice trip report, Matt! I just barely visited Blanche last year after living near the base of the canyon for years. Killer hike and not too bad on a weekday.
