I shot this sequence while backpacking in Zion last weekend. I set the shot up shortly after dark and took it down about an hour before the moon was expected to rise in the east. The camera was pointed west southwest. I'm perplexed as to why the dramatic change in colors in the sky and clouds and the only thing I can think of is that it was the light from the moonrise turning the clouds red just like a sunrise or sunset would do but perhaps not as commonly witnessed.
Notice the clouds and sky have a generally cool tone, whites and blues. Then it all goes to warm reds followed by a clear brightening of the sky just as the time lapse ends. I've never seen anything like this. Thoughts?
