I went on a short backpacking trip over the weekend to the Bear River Range in Cache Valley. A friend of mine had never been backpacking before so we took him on a nice and easy 8-mile round trip hike along the Mount Naomi NRT in the Naomi Wilderness.
We had originally planned to go to the Uintas but the high chance of thunderstorms over the weekend changed the plan. Fortunately the weather was great further north. We had a nice sprinkle hiking up this trail and then pretty much nothing after that other than a little sprinkle overnight. The bugs were only moderate despite many nearby beaver ponds. The wet spring has really made it into a jungle up there. Navigating off trail was tricky but on the bright side there were wildflowers galore.

Super selfie! I was just playing around with painting light and did this. It is a single exposure, nothing touched up. Definitely the most eerie self portrait I've done.
