Hi everyone,

I live in, and love, Cleveland, Oh. Only bad thing for me is there are no mountains around. I've always used the Backpacker forums, thinking that was the only backpacking forums site around. Found this place last night, already impressed with the community.

I've been all over. From the Blue Ridge and Smokie mountains, and parts of Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. I haven't made it up to New England yet, have been wanting to go to the Whites for sometime, but I enjoy the solitude aspect, and have been told that there's a greater number of people up there due to Boston and New York being so close. Western part of America, I've done Zion, the Winds, and the Nuche.

I'm actually planning a solo hike this summer. Not sure exactly where yet. The Bob, Yosemite/Kings Canyon, or maybe up into the Pacific Northwest. No clue, but part of the fun of getting ready for a trip is the planning and researching.

Welcome. Since you are thinking of visiting the Whites, let me just say that I don't think you would be disappointed. Most here are from out west so you won't find too much info on New England, but more than enough helpful advice if you venture out west. Two of my trip reports are from the Whites and might be the only NH reports on here, so I'll link them for you here in case your interested.
