Good afternoon everyone!
I'm brand new to the forum and found it by a Google search. I reside in Houston and there's no decent hiking for at least 6 or 7 hours in any direction. So, it's not too often I can get out and hike. I've been on two hiking trips in the past couple years; Colorado and New Mexico. I'll post about them soon and look forward to reading up on TR.

Welcome, fellow Houstonian!

Not true! There's decent hiking in some state parks in the "hill country" area west of Austin, about 3-4 hours away. Lots of possibilities for weekend trips, you just have to plan a ways ahead to book a campsite at the popular parks.

Darn, headed to Houston in March for a work event, but was hoping to find a hike SOMEWHERE nearby.

Still, glad to have you! Hope you can get out and share some adventures with us soon!

There are some good walking trails in town (we have an extensive trail system along the many bayous), but I wouldn't really call it hiking. Send me a PM before you arrive!

Yeah, looking at Alltrails, looked like there is at least some nice walking trails. Message me if you have any favorites that you recommend!
