One of our hikes along the Maine coast (way way downeast). Weather was perfect, views were awesome.
Along the trail … in the early 1800s there was a mill here with a dam to hold water. Nature has reclaimed the land.

There are several viewpoints along the trail. Eventually you reach Morton’s Rock and the of the trail. The “rock” is a huge sloping rock outcrop with great views. Great place for a snack!
Heading back on the trail
Once back at the trail kiosk you can take a short trail down to the beach …
Cranberries!
There are a number of these areas along the coast with the lands being protected by the Maine Heritage Land Trust. There are also a number of preserved areas protected by the Cobscook Shores nonprofit organization.
