Posting from Illinois, but my son is in Ogden, Utah going to Weber State.

We are planning on backpacking trip in May just after he finishes the year there. 3 or 4 days of just dad and son. So I am picking through the posts to find a place to go!

I don't think many mountains will be accessible the first week of may. I don't have any mountaineering experience, but have all my backpacking gear. We just did two weeks backpacking in New Mexico this past summer.

Good call. From my limited experience I would throw Fish and Owl Canyons on the table. Hopefully others will respond. I did Fish and Owl with two nights in August. It would be much easier but more crowded in May. I'm sure that much is written here.
