So I've talked my wife into spending the day in the Uintas tomorrow. Having never been into the Cuberant Basin and being highly fascinated with the story of Garrett Bardsley I've chosen that as our destination.Does anybody have any data on the distance from the TH to the basin?Once we get there anything particular to see in the basin?

Any of the lakes better for a swim? Any better for fishing? Thanks in advance

It's about 2.5 miles to get into the basin. When I went I didn't go up to the upper lakes. I camped at #3 and visited #2 and #5. I didn't find it to be all that fascinating. Lots of trees, not a lot of rocks and views. Might be better up by #1, but I'm not sure. #5 seemed shallow. #3 had okay fishing. #2 was also pretty shallow and weedy.

If you want more bang for your buck in that area, do the Lofty Lake Loop. Same trailhead, but keep going to Kamas lake then up to Lofty and back down to the Pass Lake TH. Excellent hike. I have a trip report and a trail guide for that around here some place.
