Typically on Tuesday afternoons I try to go on a long ride on my 10 speed but because of Hurricane force winds in the City of Hurricane  I decided to go on a quick trail run in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. Because the trailhead is about 2 miles from my house I ran on the Cinder Knoll Loop Trail with an additional off trail jaunt to the edge overlooking the Virgin River and Confluence Park.

This is a relatively popular trail (by popular I mean there is usually about one car parked at the trailhead) but because of the crazy conditions I was the only one crazy enough to be out there!

The trail is easy to follow being mostly a 2 track lava trail, with a few sections of single track. On top of one of the cinder knolls, just off the trail you can see a pretty neat example of the cone.

I ended up running 5 miles round trip (combined a few other short trails) but if you only do the loop trail it is about 2 miles round trip.
