Much of the state forest land in the Catskills was once farmland and this area was no exception. This is the Burnt-Rossman State Forest with just over 10,000 acres. New York State acquired most of these lands in the early 20th century.
An old cemetery that we found just off the main trail
This was a man made cut stone water “reservoir” used to hold water to battle fires in the fields and forests.
