This is a 2 day Camping/Hiking trip in Southwest Colorado in the Uncompahgre National Forest in June, 2024. The closest towns were Montrose, Ridgway, and Ouray.

I spent the night before the trip with my parents at Silver Jack Reservoir to celebrate Father's Day Weekend.

Day 1 I drove South from Silver Jack Reservoir a couple miles in search of a desirable dispersed campsite in a beautiful valley with towering peaks and meadows filled with wildflowers.

I lucked out as someone was leaving the site I had in mind right as I pulled up. This could not have been better timing. The camp spot was dispersed meaning no restrooms or services, yet is was situated in some trees next to a creek with amazing views.

Once I set up camp I headed up toward the East Fork Trailhead to start my day hike, finding myself as the only car in the parking lot! The trailhead was less than a mile from my campsite. The trail started following the East Fork of the Cimarron River. I headed up the trail several miles passing the creek, multiple stunning meadows, and huge peaks looming in the distance. I hit a snow patch which signaled my turnaround point, although knowing better views were ahead. This will definitely be a place I will be returning to. You are able to access Fourteeners Uncompahgre Peak and Wetterhorn from this Northern route, although it would be a long day.

After returning to the trailhead I headed back to my campsite and relaxed a bit, hanging out in the hammock, putting my feet in to the creek, and enjoying the afternoon. I enjoyed some Modelo, Ska Brewing Tropical Hazy IPAs, and some Ballmer Peak White Whiskey. It was Dinner time and I had a delicious spread of Steak, potatoes, and Asparagus. The evening provided excellent weather and I enjoyed the evening with peace and quiet and a fantastic fire. I did not see any cars head down the road throughout the afternoon. This was heaven on Earth!

After a restful sleep I woke up to another bluebird day and started breaking down camp. I cant reiterate how wonderful this valley is with ample camping opportunities and plenty of trails to explore.

I hope you enjoy the video and appreciate the support as always.

Cheers, and safe trails!
