Hi Everyone!

I stumbled across this awesome community while researching my upcoming solo trip to Utah. I have permits/logistics settled to do Wire Pass -> Buckskin Gulch -> Paria Canyon -> Lee's Ferry starting Oct 18 for 4 days. Given the recent rain, all my research points to Buckskin being a miserable slog through miles of deep mud and pools. It feels like it is time to figure out another plan.

1) Could the conditions be better going in via White House?

2) Is packrafting the Escalante possible this time of year? I'm virtually certain the answer is no, but oh do I want to do it!

3) What is another good 4-5 day trip (or a few shorter ones) that might have more favorable conditions? I'm open to anything people think would be memorable! Someone suggested Kanab Creek.

Thanks for any info! I'll make sure to do a trip report if I get into anything fun. :)

Conditions will definitely be better in whitehouse rather than buckskin. I'd give that a go. Call the BLM in kanab though to get a report on the whole thing. Permits could also be an issue this time of year.

As an alternative, get the Trails Illustrated map of Canyonlands and make your own sweet loop in the Needles district.
