@regehr Likely not, according to the NV Dept of Wildlife, black bears are found in " mountainous areas and foothills of
Lake Tahoe, the sierra Nevada mountains and nearby mountain ranges in extreme western Nevada." A more recent article (2017) states that they have been moving farther east and have been seen in the Ely, NV area, which is still more than 150 miles south. Kind of strange that the NDOW website says they are still limited to far western NV, when their own biologists have confirmed sightings so far east.
Pack rats, on the other hand, might be thick there.
