Does anyone know if there is a way to pass over from the Bonneville lakes basin over to Baptiste Lake? It looks possible on the topo, but that doesn't mean that it is. Otherwise to link up the two is 16 miles of trail, when they are really only a mile apart from each other.

We had considered that ourselves a few years ago before hiking out there as we had also seen it looked possible on the Topos. Once we were at Baptiste Lake, we were happy we decided not to go up and over. That was a few years ago and I wish I remembered more about it. Below are some pictures taken of the ridge from the south east side of Baptiste. Hope this helps.

Yeah I don't think it's possible, well it may be for some, but not for me. It does however look like you could shortcut over the pass between Bonneville Peak and Raid peak to make the connection between the two quite a bit shorter than the regular trail route. That pass looks pretty doable.

Met a woman at Grave Lake last August who had just come over that route. She, her boyfriend and another guy came from Lee Lake to the north into Bonneville Basin, traversed the slope, jumped the ridge and dropped to Baptiste. They did not use gear but were all young experienced climbers and said it was barely a go. I've seen both sides and it is not for me. Baptiste is the easy side. On the other hand Raid/Bonneville Col, although arduous, is doable.
