The guys and I decided to take a little trip in the Uintas last year around Sept. We started at East Fork Bear River trail head.

Headed up the trail we saw old logging cabins

It was getting dark so we figured we better set up camp. We had about a mile and a half to Allsop so we camped below The Cathedral

Lake Allsop, we hung around and fished for and hour or so with some success, but we knew we had some work ahead of us.

Looking up at Yard Peak (12706) trying to figure out the best way up. We ended up going off a little to the right of this picture, hugging the pines, man it was steep. I've read its and old sheepherder trail.

Such a beautiful place i would go to Priord again in a heart beat. We ended up seeing deer, elk and a bunch of mountain goats even heard coyotes way close to us at dusk. I really love the uintas and feel really fortunate to have such and amazing place to appreciate.

Nice. I hiked up to South Yard Peak this year and spend two nights by Priord. Your pics take me back. Jealous of your wildlife sightings.

One of my favorite places. Thanks for posting.

Question: you crossed over the sheep trail closer to The Cathedral, right? Like the red line below? That looks like the little lake in the photo looking down. That's also where I've heard the old sheep trail went. Or did you actually find a way on the other pass. I didn't think that was doable down the other side.

Love Priord, almost made the pass, you have any more photo's looking back at the pass from Priord to Allsop? Draw a line on your route maybe?

this is the way we went up if it helps, it was a scramble and pretty sketchy in some parts, but it looked the best but theres probably a better spot but i didn't see one.

That route up does look a little sketchy in spots. Judging by the pic alone, I wonder if going straight up through and over the bigger boulders right up the middle of the pic might have been a bit less steep, or provide better footing? I don't know, but either way, great report and great pics of the route over. Glad you all made it over safely.

Been a long time since ive been there.. about 10 years. I loved seeing those pics. Brings back good memories. Im determined to get more time away from work and in the uintas this coming summer. Thanks for the additional motivation.

Thanks man. Ya that's truly the battle, finding and getting that time to go do the things we love.
