    Guess the spot

Okay, I guess this isn't as easy as I thought. Hint: Several BCP members have been within a few hundred feet of this spot, and/or written trip reports about it within the past six months.

Haha, easy if you've been there. It looks like Ohiopyle, but the viewing area is on the wrong side.

    Coyote Gulch Pit Toilet

@DrNed , perhaps this isn't the case anymore, but when we were there in 2017, the BLM station in Escalante provided WAG bags to us when we got our overnight permit.

Case in point... (Confession: I'm the guilty person who put the cap on the pony.)

@wsp_scott is correct! Grayson Highlands in southwestern Virginia has beautiful open scenery, and wild ponies (though they are more used to people than they probably should be).

    early september trip possibilities

If you don't get a permit for the Enchantments, I would highly recommend going to another location in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Try a backpacking trip to Marmot Lake, Jade Lake and Pea Soup Lake (by Mt. Daniel). I can easily be done in two nights, if you wish, or more if you prefer -- there...

And yes, Bob's Hill is in Cunningham Falls State Park. (Sorry, I didn't see this until now.)

Guess the Spot: Eastern US Edition

You are correct! Yeah, Bob's Hill doesn't get much attention around here, but I think it has better views than any of the overlooks in Catoctin. @Janice, you're up!

Still close, but getting a little colder.

Guess the Spot: Eastern US Edition

Sugarloaf is visible on the horizon, but I'm looking for the name of the mountain where the photo was taken. Catoctin is very close.

Access to Escalante River/Lake Powell near Cathedral in the Desert

Thanks for the access suggestion, @Nick . I will probably pass on that, as I will have limited time (as it seems I always have when I'm out there) and don't want to get to that fin and decide that I'm too chicken to do it. I admit that the hike to Reflection Canyon doesn't excite me, but...
