Ortenburger Lake, Talus Lake, & Glacier Peak (Grand Teton NP) - October 2023

You almost made me cry. I'll never forget my final camp backpack after 5 sensational summers when I was 14 to Moose Basin, etc. in 1978. Glissading Shangrila Peak, the "caverns," and lovely lakes. Other than Hominy Peak I haven't hiked anything up there since the earliest 2000s. Thank you so...

Southern Absaroka & Thorofare Mountain (Teton/Washakie Wilderness) - July 2023

We used to take horse packtrips to an awesome camp below Perry N. Boday from the Wolfe Creek Trailhead. Some of the biggest grizzly tracks I've ever seen. Some of the most water logged meadows ever. Thanks for a great report.

Outstanding! Loved Pickle Pass and Cliff Creek Falls one trip too. Been a long time since I've been down there. Roosevelt Meadows had many elk one July in the way back. Thanks for taking me back some years.

I've found the weatherproofed Forest Service Map to be fine. I horse packed the Teton and Washakie Wildernesses a fair amount as a boy and young man. The Teton is home to the remotest point in the 48 States. Not surprising it hasn't garnered much social media attention, coordinates, etc. I have...

"corner crossing" to reach public lands

I don't have any answers for your questions but will share my broader opinion on access. Despite the inane proclamations from residents and congressional delegations in western states with large tracts of Federal Land each and every acre of our Federal Lands is owned by each and every American...
