I’ve cached water in that exact area in spring of 21. Used a regular gallon jug and a stiffer orange juice container. Left two caches. One at the bottom of the climb out and one at the edge for the overnight sitting for 5 days for two of us. Put them under a bush and in a crevice, both in the...
Says it all right there. Thanks for your take on the trip and very nice pictures.
I was watching that mist from my sleeping bag. ;)
Most definitely. o_O
I know. Normally I wouldn’t hesitate, backpacking vs. work = easy decision but they recently advanced me and I’m feeling some slight pangs of responsibility.
I‘m supposed to do a work thing online the 29th but I could dump it. I’ll sleep on it overnight. You could sent me a route and possible campsites if it’s easy.
I think you might need me to come along to ‘help’ lighten that load of chocolate. How many nights out? I found two Willow Cks but you must mean near the junction. That’s a pretty long shuttle. I might be able to get us a drop off.
Thanks to @ImNotDedYet I was able to join him and @Bob following @scatman’s Rescue Ck hike. We lit out just before 2p with a little under 5 miles to walk. It was a very pleasant stroll along the old two track of a trail in lovely weather. We landed in camp near 5:30, set up and ate right off and...
Drove up to McDougal Gap yesterday. Looks to be pretty good for hiking. I would definitely expect wet feet but snow shouldn’t be too bad. The upper reaches of the Wyoming Range Trail could still have some steep snow.
I was lucky to join in on this @scatman organized backpack to Yellowstone NP on short notice just after arriving in Wonderful Wyoming. The weather prediction was pretty grim with rain at 70% and lows in the thirties, highs in the low sixties at best. Everyone, the Scat clan and three hangers on...
Excellent comprehensive trip report and pictures. Thanks @scatman for your generosity and tolerance in welcoming us along. Lovely campsite and great day hikes.
Hope this was of use. Really love the bare bones simplicity.
@Rockskipper You are correct. Same view as from 191 but I’m out in the sage SW of Buckskin Crossing. Used to be fishing on the Big Sandy near there but Game and Fish is managing for suckers. FYI the last picture is from along the...

Yeah, right, smart.
OMG……the freaking ticks!!! I‘ve picked up at least twenty in the last month and a half at my place. Thankfully only one Lyme infested deer tick, the rest all non diseased dog ticks. Still not nice. Honestly, they (the Lyme variety) are one of my top excuses for spending the...
Well, it was a good choice to drive across the country this weekend. Did the crux today, Cleveland - Chicago and it was the least traffic I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for enjoying.
@kwc I’m not surprised you’ve been there, you do seem to get out a lot.
@regehr there are definitely some unique and beautiful places to visit here out East but it ain’t the West. That piece of land is just something like 5 miles long by 2 miles wide and I think the only...
