Dirty Devil home brewed 'overland route' March 2024

Yo! Incredible route! And Mexican spotted owl sighting!? I've camped like 15 feet under where one was calling in Olo Canyon in the Grand (and might have had one a couple weeks ago in a Glen side canyon but could barely hear it over the red spotted toads) but still never seen one. What Cordura...

There’s already a lot of water out there even before this coming storm. I’d bet those tanks are plenty full.

Pls recommend 4-season 1 person tent

TT cloudburst 3 or one of the Durston X Mids. Watch backackinglight gear swap for a used deal. Lots of people trying out stuff that is lightly used for a deal.

You’ve been really close with last couple guesses and any other clues give it away so we can call it close enough. You’re up. Correct answer is Cisco Mesa.

Definitely in the right area. The one I’m looking for shares a name with a nearby “town”.

Somewhere way out there in the distance I guess you would indeed find the San Rafael Desert no The feature the photo is taken from is named on USGS topo.

I don't remember seeing any TRs from the area but looks a lot like area where Long/Bowns meet the Colorado and that seems consistent with the other clues.

A challenging week on the Escalante Overland Route

Great stuff. About 10 years ago I did a ~120 mile crazy Escalante trip and Scorpion Bench was what about killed me at the end of a long day lol. Really strenuous walking for how flat it looks on a map.

What did you make (or repair) today?

That Venom looks legit with the 100% dyneema weave. The difficulty has always been that it’s hard to get anything to adhere to it to make it stable enough to be useful for lack fabrics because the threads are so slippery. Coating both sides with TPU is interesting solution.

    Uncompahgre Wilderness

Chicago Basin area is but theres tons of other options. I’ve done 4th of July weekend trips and hardly seen anyone after getting away from trailheads.

What did you make (or repair) today?

From the description and look that Dynex looks like it's pretty similar (if not the same thing) to the dyneema grid fabrics available from Rockywoods and RBTR. The holy grail is the full spectra laminate that Cilo/Mchale were using (not sure if they still do?). Cilo sold me a yard like 12 years...
