    Question about lighters

Agree on the cold conditions. I carry the lighter in my inside pocket of my down jacket to keep it warm and functional. I have also attached foot warmer pads to the fuel canister of my pocket rocket stove to get it to work in sub freezing temps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Sleeping Pads

These have been my options so far. Started with the klymit pad in the middle for a multi day running event where cost was most important. Then went to the ultralight thermarest lite. Super light, a little noisy but I found it very narrow for a side sleeper. Final purchase was the BA Double z...

    Careers of Backcountrypost.com

Wow!! Great thread. I am a RN who specialized in wound care for the last 15 years but have recently made the move to clinic life. I now work a normal M-F, 8-5 gig with weekends and holidays off. For the first time in almost 20 years I had a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving...very nice. I...

Back again, anyone using a teardrop?

Thanks @Nanda. The pro and con list was exactly the kind of thin I was looking for. I'd love something a little bigger and self contained but not willing to sell the Subaru and buy another vehicle just to tow a bigger trailer. I think the hard sided living space, and a real mattress will be the...

Back again, anyone using a teardrop?

Thought I'd say hello. I disappeared last year when I took up trail running again seriously. That meant every weekend was filled with training runs. I did hit my goal of finishing a 50K last November post lupus diagnosis. But have resolved to make this summer about embracing and exploring the...

Weekend at Spruce Grove CG with hiking in Lost Creek Wilderness

Headed out Friday after work for a weekend get away with the pupper. It rained on our way to the campground which is located on the edge of the Lost Creek Wilderness. About 10 minutes before we got there the rain stopped. It was pretty chilly the first night, colder than the forecast said as we...

Lost Creek Wilderness, Goose Creek to Shaft House.

Got out again for an overnighter in Lost Creek Wilderness. This was part of a meetup group trip, so there was about 10 of us. Beautiful weather, in the 70's Saturday afternoon, some light rain showers in the evening and a cool Sunday morning to hike out. The trail is about 4.5 mile in, the total...

Davis Meadows for a chilly spring overnighter, Duncan's first !

We too, saw lots of pronghorn. Even saw a small herd of elk feeding along 24 on our way to Davis Meadows. To far away to get a good pic and drive, lol. There was tons of moose scat where we backpacked and giant cloven hoof prints. But didn't see any actual moose.

Davis Meadows for a chilly spring overnighter, Duncan's first !

Duncan and I headed out with 5 others for the first backpacking trip of the year. Technically it's spring but we may have pushed the weather a tad. Davis Meadows is near Buena Vista, Co and is an old logging camp. Multiple original log cabins remain in varying states of disrepair. It...

Tarptent Double Rainbow or Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2?

Looking to buy a bigger tent for the dog and I for the upcoming backpacking season. I have a tarptent Moment DW. But it's tight with the two of us and apparently I pack like a girl because even alone the tent is crowded. I have narrowed it down to the two options in the title. With discount...
