I love Trachyte / Maidenwater area. It's seldom used and its a good 2-3 day hike. Nice TR.

Moon House is one of my favorites in the Cedar Mesa area. Visited it last year about this time.

When I was bow hunting last year I came across a porcupine perched just like that, asleep, at the end of a fallen log . Scared the heck out of me. Once I figured out what it was, it was cool to watch it.

There's a gas station just off the Redwood Road exit (about 2-ish miles away from the Airport exit) that has showers. I can't remember the name of the gas station but its on the left (west) side of the road after heading one block right (North) when you get off. If you've gone past North Temple...

South Tahoe is very beautiful. I did the 36+ mile Tahoe to Flume Trail bike ride last summer and it was exhilarating.

Was the road to Crystal and Washington Lakes free of snow as well?
