    Coffee!!

Usually Starbucks Via but a couple months ago we tried Gastro Nome Instant Coffee pouches. The coffee pouches dissolve so you don't end up with any packets to dispose of. Coffee flavor was pretty good but the pouches didn't 100% completely dissolve and left a bit of white residue in the mug...

Meander vs Stillwater - hiking opportunities?

Within Stillwater there is great little slot canyon that can be accessed from Anderson Bottom, definite must do IMO. You can see it in the image below at center left. It and many other hikes are described in Kelsey's River Guide.

Paria Canyon- Whitehouse to Lees Ferry, Oct 18 to 21, 2023

Ideal conditions for a 4-day backpack down the Paria Canyon from Whitehouse to Lees Ferry last week. High temps in the low 80Fs, ankle deep water, spring water everywhere, and after day 1 we seemingly had the canyon to ourselves. Night 1 we camped just below Buckskin Gulch @ mile 8, night 2 near...

Americans: where was your favorite international backpacking trip?

    Havasupai Permits

Hi- Looking to visit Havasupai with the family in March of 2022. Tourism is currently suspended until Feb 1, 2022 with no set date for a reopening. It looks like I can reserve campsites from their Cancellations/Transfer list now though. Just wondering if anyone thinks Havasupai will actually...

Grand Canyon NP Backpack Pt. 1 Thunder River Tr.-->Esplanade-->Tapeats-->Deer. April 18-23, 2021

Funny, pretty sure I chatted with Maureen at Deer Creek while she was soaking her feet from the hike! My family and I were a part of a rafting trip who hiked up from the river. Deer Creek Patio is quite the spot!

    To Do in 2021

I'm optimistic that 2021 will be more conducive to travel for us. In 2020 we had to cancel our planned trek in Peru and we haven't left Alaska since July 2019-which seems crazy! I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine Tuesday, so 2021 is looking up. April- Floating the Grand Canyon over 16...

    To Do in 2020

Our general plan is to acclimate in Sacred Valley outside of Cusco for a few days https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/32714785. Then tackle a 9 day trek to Choquequirao Ruins and eventually to Machu...

Mendenhall Glacier Ice Caves with Grandma

I'm not sure what the conditions of the caves are like right now but assuming you can access them ice grippers would be nice. If you need to borrow some let me know I have a bunch. I'm not a whitewater rafter so I can't comment on what class the river will be at. But that time of year the...

Mendenhall Glacier Ice Caves with Grandma

In the winter when the lake is frozen you can walk/ski/skate across the lake to access the caves. Come summer time and when conditions are calm it is easiest to sea kayak across the lake starting from the near the Visitors Center. During warm days katabatic winds come off the glacier and can...

Beehive Traverse - Through the Heart of Capitol Reef's Waterpocket Fold

Awesome trip report. The Beehive Traverse has been on my shortlist for a couple of years now. It has now risen to the top. The grandparents are flying up to watch our kids and we're heading down late March to do the traverse with Steve. Can't wait!
