Totally agree.I really enjoy (and reference frequently) the info you post @Andrew Skurka , it's made me aware of some great routes. Thank you for all your contributions to the outdoors community.
I think it's a dying hobby, so they had to do SOMETHING to encourage people. Cell phones can do so much more than a ham radio, but when you're out in the middle of nowhere with no cell service, they're pretty handy. I have a cheap, junky Baofeng handheld I got on amazon for $30. It allows me to...
yeah, it's a lot easier to get your license now. In fact, none of the licenses require CW. I'll be getting my general license in a couple months, and @Tess will be getting her technician license.
Cool. I've been listening to the Lake Mountain repeater a lot in Eagle Mountain. We'll be in Moab next week, and I look forward to using the Sinbad system to chat with my friends in SLC.
I just got my Technician license. I figured it'd be a good thing to have for backcountry trips and for emergency situations. I'm actually really enjoying the hobby and finding myself tuning in almost every evening. Anyone else out there into Ham?
I'm torn on the skirt though (I forgot what mine is called). One minute I love it, the next minute I wish I had left it off. The nice part is that most of it zips off. (there's still a little part on the bow that stays attached.)
However, when I paddle with it detached, the zippers and velcro...
I absolutely love the cargo fly, I'm so glad I got it. Totally air tight. I can still get my stuff up front, but the area in the back is the biggest. For this trip I didn't use the interior storage bags, I just stuffed my back in the stern. I would definitely get it again.
I will say though...
Packrafting and visiting all the districts of canyonlands in one day. We learned that this is NOT a good first packrafting trip. :) That'll teach me for following in the footsteps of @Kullaberg63 . For this trip, @Parma joined us. What a great guy, who never complained, despite it being a...
This has been my worst outdoor year ever. 2 bag nights. Pathetic. Hoping to ramp this up quite a big for the second half.
January sometime - bluff balloon trip.
March sometime - moab
Wow, I'm impressed it's so light. Thanks. I've been eyeballing the foxwing awning. This looks much better (albeit at twice the price). I have no doubt it's worth it, ezi awn makes amazing stuff.
Awesome. Just added that to the list. We'll have our video of Canyonlands figure 8 up in the next week. It was a tough trip; one I'll likely never repeat.
