    Escalante Area Wanderings: Phipps Arch

Two things: 1) Did you really catch the Cowboy Blues restaurant open?? We have spent weeks in Escalante over the last 4 years and never once was it open. Apparently the owners don't keep regular hours, they just open when they feel like it (according to another local business owner). 2) Where is...

    Escalante Area Wanderings: Bighorn Canyon

Wanna know why you were drooling on those rocks? Because they look like bacon!! Yum! Or is it just me and my bacon-loving brain that sees that? Bighorn is on our list for 2015. Great TR! Thanks!

Coyote gulch via 40 mile ridge road

<<<That pic is of me climbing out Hamblin. Pretty scary but I am not a climber and I managed with a full pack. You should have no problem. There was a "regular" car at the trailhead when we went so if you're a good off-road type driver, you should be good to drive to the trailhead at Crack in...

Coyote Gulch via Jacob Hamblin Arch trail and Crack in the Wall

The Jacob Hamblin route out was not easy for me but I did it. Scared me to death. The rope on my pack didn't help me but did give me the confidence to continue to move. The last pic is of me hyperventilating near the top:) lol

    Camping suggestions needed for Escalante

There are a couple of RV parks in town that have tent sites. You could also try the Petrified Forest State Park. We found several great places to camp along Hole in the Rock Road but they were pretty far down. The Devil's Garden isn't too far and also has tent sites. Oh, and Nick, you can PM me...

Coyote Buttes North & Willis Creek

Amazing pictures! I want to go to North Coyote Buttes so bad!! Those permits are too hard to come by but I completely support the reason they are so stingy with them :) Where were all the petroglyphs/pictographs? I would love to go see them next fall when I am out that way.

    Guess the spot

Now the pressure is on! I will try to work on that. I'm not much of a writer and definitely not a photographer, but I'll see if I can put something together worthy of posting.
