    Backpacking Grand Teton National Park : Fossil Pass,Fox Creek Pass,Indian Lake,Alaska Basin,Hurricane Pass,Ice Floe Lake,& Snowdrift Lake

Haha....so what is this saying here...that you're one of the rare folks who've made the effort to poke around and even summit Fossil, or that I've wrongly assumed most of the Darby crowds turn around at the Wind Cave? Either way, that's a gorgeous shot!

First time in the High Uintas | Red Castle SNEAK Loop | I give these mountains 5 out of 5 stars

Glad you found the Uintas to be so hospitable. That's a great way to sample them. Such easy terrain to navigate for the most part that the off trail lakes and other places to explore and wander around up there to get away from the crowds are virtually endless when weather and conditions are good.

    Backpacking Grand Teton National Park : Fossil Pass,Fox Creek Pass,Indian Lake,Alaska Basin,Hurricane Pass,Ice Floe Lake,& Snowdrift Lake

I've had a route that starts the same way yours did tucked away for several years now but logistics have kept it from happening thus far. Only, instead of continuing down through the Park, it would just veer up the rim for Table and/or just finish straight down Teton Canyon. Figured that would...

Backpacking Hole In the Rock Trail

Nope, not yet...maybe take a crack at it this year. Maybe next. Lots of logistics to work out with my family, wife especially. With Powell being so low right now, that crossing may not take too long at all.

Beehive Traverse - Through the Heart of Capitol Reef's Waterpocket Fold

Awesome! Guess you would have stepped on some our footprints then. I've heard he's stopped guiding that route now, due to age/health or some other factors there.

Lake Powell and the 'return' of Glen Canyon

To those whom most depend on Powell, largely the town of Page for their power and water, I'd say they have the biggest hurdle to deal with right now. But as @John Morrow pointed out, if the level descends below power generation capacity in the next couple of years, it may all be a moot point and...

Lake Powell and the 'return' of Glen Canyon

The idea to empty Powell continues to gain some steam. 12news.com KPNX: 'Life beyond Lake Powell': Experts weigh draining Arizona's iconic lake amid worsening megadrought...

    "I Would Walk 500 Miles ..." - A Utah Adventure - April 2022 - Final Part

Well shoot....you may have just saved me a scouting trip to check out the crossing of Lake Canyon because it sounds like you crossed right where I plan to. I'll have to DM you my route and have you confirm if I've routed across at the same spot you took. Also...did you happen to see this other...

    "I Would Walk 500 Miles ..." - A Utah Adventure - April 2022 - Part 5

I have ambitions (though not as ambitious as this route of yours) to actually hike the whole of the HIR route as faithfully as I can from Dance Hall Rock to Bluff in a coming year...so I'm extra fascinated with this section of your journey. Though rather than gambling with hitchhiking on a boat...

    Younts Peak (Teton/Washakie Wilderness) - July 2022

Wow! Congrats on both the successful summit and such amazing grizzly sightings. Looks like the kind of country and terrain where it can make viewing possible while being able to avoid close encounters with grizzlies a good bit safer than perhaps some other areas out there and likewise, terrain...

Flooding in Yellowstone National Park and Adjacent Areas of Montana Today June 13, 2022

Saw something posted on Facebook about all this and had to come here to confirm, because, well, Facebook. Dayum.:(

Yellowstone visitation down 34% over Memorial Day - maybe price of gas? Any predictions for the summer?

As I was reading through the replies here I was thinking something along these lines, which is that with so many more people getting out to places like that in the last couple years, maybe they had their fill - They can now say they got to see this, this, and that, and alongside the crowded...

WRHR - Day 7: Beaver Park to Green River Lakes

Thanks! Definitely a lot of bang for the buck. Writing these all up makes me excited for summer again.

WRHR - Day 7: Beaver Park to Green River Lakes

It wasn't bad. People were pretty spread out. Just felt different seeing day hikers out and about after being so far away from any trailheads since the week before.

WRHR - Day 7: Beaver Park to Green River Lakes

No issues. Rain had stopped earlier in the day. The sun just never came out to dry anything up in the evening. I upgraded to the newer Notch design that has a tighter pitch to the ground, plus I have the partial solid inner now too, so I'll never need to worry about the wind driven rain the...

WRHR - Day 7: Beaver Park to Green River Lakes

All good things come to an end. Today was our last day and it was set up to be less dramatic, mostly through a long green tunnel to our exit, or was it? Thursday - July 29, 2021 Day 7: Beaver...

Gila River - Gila Wilderness, New Mexico - April 18, 2022

Finally got around to catching up on this one. Gila has always looked like one I'd enjoy from other reports/videos I've seen of that area. Peak makes some good meals, but the Chicken Teriyaki one is definitely not among their best. My favorite has been the Chicken Pesto Pasta. Thanks for...

Outlook poor for fires in the West

Planning to attempt a 100 mile route in the Uintas in late August. If it gets too smoky, might have to call it off. Booo!!!
