Nope, tis the season once again.
I just picked up a new one last week at REI off the 50% clearance rack.

i went by columbia outlet in park city yesterday just out of curiosity, and they have a bunch of mountain hardwear down jackets in for 50 percent off lowest marked price. crazy good deals, but they were going fast...

I finally got a sweet Mountain Hardwear Nitrous down jacket on sale.
I thought my old Eastern Mountain Sports down jacket was a lightweight, but that one is amazing with it's 10 oz.
Will take it on a camping trip into the Adirondacks at the end of the month

I was at REI last weekend. They were having a huge sale but not to much in the Down jacket department. I am thinking it is probably a good idea for me to pick one up for my trip out west this weekend.

I picked up a sweet Patagonia Down Sweater (really a jacket) at REI today. Regularly $200, and I got it for $99! It's only 11 ounces and is full of 800 fill goose down. Perfect for backpacking! And to make it better, it's a bit roomier than my Mountain Hardware Nitrous (also 800 fill goose down but an ounce heavier), so I can actually layer the two on trips that might get extra cold. Also found Audra a sweet Patagonia Downtown Loft down jacket, also for 50% off (was $250!).

Anyhow, just thought I'd post this in case anyone has this on their gear list. Tis' the season for deals on coats! I think an ultralight down jacket is a must have.

I just bought a big Agnes down with a hood for 150 at the OR show. It retails for about 400 so it's a good deal but what sold me was how it fit (I've never found a down jacket that fit this nice) . Has thumbholes too. Here's to hoping I like it.

Question on the down jackets...I picked up a cheap knock off down jacket that collects a lot of moisture when going up steep terrain. It is really warm and has been great except for that issue. Are the Patagonia jackets more breathable? I have spoken to a few people and some say yes others say no.

I have a Patagonia and a couple of Mountain Hardwares. Haven't noticed any issues with moisture but I don't hike in them a lot. I run warm so if I'm moving, I generally don't need it.

I was going to say the same thing...I don't typically hike in my down jacket...it's mainly for staying warm when I'm not moving (sitting around camp, waiting behind my tripod for sunrise/sunset).

I rarely hike in down jackets and if I do it's usually in the winter time. But even then I'm getting warm and toasty very soon.
I primarily have Mountain Hardwear down jackets but never had an issue with moisture.

I've tried using it as a replacement for fleece during cold weather hikes @ winter and snow shoeing after seeing similar types marketed as snow shoeing jackets.
