Any 'mids users out there?

Anyone out there using a 'mid for their shelter? I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an HMG Ultamid 2, but I wanted some Utah/AZ/desert feedback before pulling the trigger.

Yes, it's insanely expensive, and there's no floor or bug protection, but I can't imagine a better shelter for heavy storms, rain, or snow. Thoughts?

I don't have one, but one of my long time backpacking buddies does. They are great for pitching an emergency shelter for the whole crew to pile into. But aside from the wonderful storms I've waited out in Taylor's 'circus tent', I have never been very compelled to own one. If I'm going to pack a tent around, I want full protection.

No experience, but my 15 yr old son has recently developed a fascination with them. Just yesterday a package containing a six foot waterproof zipper and a dozen yards of silnylon arrived. i can only guess what that's for.
