2016 REI Dividends

$329! Wow, you must have dropped some serious coin at REI last year. Mine was only $63. :scatman:

Yes, this made my day! $189

Need to pick up some new light mountaineering boots so that will help for sure.

I may need to have you all help me spend my $4.40...this is truly an embarrassment of riches!

LOL that is about what mine came to as well.

I did find a very nice Sahara shirt on deep sale, one of the discontinued colors of slate blue and had a $20 extra off that they let me apply to it but I had to bring up the total just a bit to qualify so I got a map I've been wanting for some time with the deal.

I'd like to hear what you REI Visa guys are at without the credit card. I thought about signing up for it after one of these threads a couple years ago, but the Amazon Visa has worked out better for us. Tack on $700 to my 'dividend' if we're going with card benefits. :)

The credit card we use, not REI, put the reward point into dollar, right into our account to be use for anywhere and anything and we can even link it to online purchases at certain retailers like Amazon if we choose. I think they all change around to who gives the best rewards in general in their fight for customers. Sometimes ours is tops but not always.

That's how ours works too.

I've thought about getting the Amazon card for a while, so I just read up on their own site some reviews.

First review canceled the card because Chase charges interest from date purchased. I don't pay my CC down several times a month, just once. I've never been charged interest because I don't carry a balance. Sounds like that wouldn't apply for the Amazon card?

My American Express points show up automatically on Amazon. I use my AMEX for almost everything since I have to pay it off monthly (enforces discipline). I currently have around $1,400 in points. Unfortunately my wife knows this as well so I can't just blow it all on gear...

My dividend is $143 with the REI Mastercard. I'm thinking about getting a new Jetboil Flash. Does anyone know when the next big member sale is happening?

At this point in my life an Amazon Card would be much more beneficial than an REI card.

We only pay it once per month and we have never paid any interest on anything. I'm not sure what's up with that review.

Looks my REI purchases have really slowed down. So much so that I have $0.00 in a dividend. Haha. My rewards credit card on the other hand has been treating my nicely, just like some of you guys and your Amex, Amazon, etc. rewards cards. (Citi cash rewards is what I use. Basically 2% on everything).

Yes, I have the REI MasterCard that I use for everything and pay off each month.

I actually bought very little from REI last year.

Those REI card offers hit my mailbox every other month and they are always so tempting with the $100 bonus offered but I am already doing something similar, only with a Chase Freedom and Amazon cards that both rack up Amazon points which help to pay for gear or just about anything else under the sun that can be found on Amazon. I'm using the Chase Freedom on the 5% back categories they rotate through each quarter and the Amazon for everything else. Only downside, besides keeping track of what spending categories are eligible for the 5% back, is that you can't merge the points accumulated from both cards into one purchase on Amazon.
